We've entered 2012!

Hi all! I know, I stopped blogging for awhile. But I'm back and more handy then ever! I now have several tools to help keep me committed to the blog and to my awesome blog readers.

First,  my camera will be up and running soon. Yes! I sooo procrastinated on that one. I went to order our coffee k- cups (we <3 our keurig - thanks to a special aunt) and decided that I should throw in the $6 battery charger that has been holding me up from blogging and photo documentation for at least 3 months. Way to go me!

Second, and most importantly, I got the iphone! Happy Anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Handyman's Grand-daughter! Paper is "traditionally" a first year anniversary gift but let's be honest...paper is a dying trend in this technological era. We decided to upgrade our phones. Steve had a blackberry and opted to stay with it but got a new one since his battery was dying every 2 seconds and other functions were on the fritz too. I had a dumb phone. It was some kind of samsung that has supported me and my very few phone needs through the last 3+ years.
Goodbye, Dumbphone. We were a great team while it lasted.
I really dragged my feet for a long time in getting a SMARTPHONE, but I have to say, I LOVE it! I already see how this small little thing can change my life.

For instance,

1) I downloaded a flashlight app. Going to work at night it is very critical that I can see my vehicle and any critters or arachnids that may be near. I don't always put the porch light on if Steve is already asleep. I know, I could just bring a flashlight with me, but this will be so much more handy!

2) I have the Siri assistant. I hate to type on phones. It's reason #543654 that it might take a few days for me to respond to your text. I drafted my Home Depot shopping list in about 2 minutes all by voice. No need to remember a piece of paper, or a pen for that matter, I can "check" my items off as I put them in the cart.

3) Email, on my phone, no way!! I can email to my phone, from my phone, and everywhere in between.

4) The Handy-man Household is trying to get healthy. I want to start running. There are so many running apps that don't require any kind of shoe chips or systems..have phone shall travel! And, it will play my music for me as I run- how awesome. Can't wait to start couch 2- 5k! (Was going to start today but it's raining).

No more shoe chip needed. P.S. The photo quality on my phone is way better then my camera - so I discovered.

Also, there are so many health apps available.  I downloaded an app to help me make better grocery choices. You scan the bar code in the store and it will tell you "how good the food is for you" and some better options! For instance, we love Special K's Fruit and Yogurt cereal. Come to find out, it gets a C- rating for containing trans-fats (even though the label says 0), too much sugar, and controversial food additives and colors. I asked Steve if he still wants me to buy it, he said no, buy Cherrios or Honey bunches of oats that are A- options - information populated by the app when I asked for a better alternative. It's free - makes me love it even more! Fooducate is the name of it for more information.

I might annoy Steve with logging everything I eat, but, MyFitnessPal.com app is going to help me lose the 20 lbs I gained in the last year!

So, will we continue to pay our bills by snail mail, shop in store, print out or bring paper coupons, have a paper calendar, have a filing cabinet, and write handwritten notes-  only time will tell!
